There is the Keaton K. Walker Scholarship Fund for University of Utah students with physical disabilities & visual impairments with different monetary awards every year.

The Michigan Cerebral Palsy Attorneys has an annual Achievements and Abilities Scholarship for a purpose of increasing awareness about Cerebral Palsy (CP) with a graduate disability scholarship up to $1,500.

The Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf & Hard of Hearing has deaf scholarships for attending an accredited University for graduate students with this disability.

Graduate students with hemophilia B can apply to the Emergent B More Scholarship. This will cover trade schools as well.

Graduate students can apply to the Mary Oenslager Scholastic Achievement Award for the blind or vision impaired.

Female Jewish students who are physically impaired can apply to the Jackson Stricks Scholarships worth up to $2,500.

Alpha One has a $2,000 Powering Education Scholarship for students with disabilities living in Main who are graduate students.

Deaf students can apply to the Millie Brother Scholarship for hearing Children of Deaf Adults sponsored by CODA. There are two $3,000 scholarships offered each year.

People living with epilepsy can apply to The UCB Family Epilepsy Scholarship Program with awards up to $5,000 to (30) deserving students.

The Business Plan Scholarship for Students with Disabilities is worth $1,000 for those disabled graduate students who wrote a business plan for their class, competition, or starting their own business.

Graduate Deaf students can apply to the Gallaudet University Alumni Association scholarship for awards to college.

Cystic Fibrosis graduate students can apply to the Elizabeth Nash Foundation for awards from $1,000 to $2,500.

Certain colleges and universities are more progressive then others when it comes to their disability programs for disabled students. UI is one of the better ones.

Autism Ontario has Disability Scholarships

Autism Ontario supports students with Autism Spectrum Disorders. They have support chapters in many communities in Ontario, Canada and work hard to increasing public awareness about Autism so individuals afflicted, can live productive life’s in society.

Autism Ontario has scholarships for Ontario residents which open up in February every year that can be applied to. There are three disability scholarship categories; one for individuals with autism, one for siblings of a person on the autism spectrum, and one for children on the autism spectrum.

On the Government of Ontario Website, all students can look into disability student financial aid options that can assist them in finding programs to help pay for college. Another Canadian website which offers many scholarships to Canada’s college students is ScholarshipsCanada. In fact, it’s one of the premier scholarship websites for Canadian students. They offer disability financial aid in many forms. They have a Featured Scholarships tab that has some of the best financial aid awards.

Attending college in Canada can be easy because Bursaries as well as Scholarships are given to out of country students more liberally then other countries, thus making attending more affordable.

AAPD for Disability Financial Aid

The American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD) offers disability scholarships and they are called the NBCUniversal Tony Coelho Media Scholarship. They hand out (8) disability financial aid scholarships of $5,625 each to 2nd year associate students sophomores, juniors, seniors and graduate students majoring in media, communications or the entertainment industry.

Tony Coelho, who served under Bill Clinton, was a representative from California and the main author of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Disability scholarships can be found mostly through private organizations which provide support for the particular disability in some way; either by selling products, or a non-profit charitable association of some type. These can be societies as well such as the Multiple sclerosis (MS) society. For example wheelchair.com sells wheel chairs to its disabled customers, but also has a wheelchair.com scholarship program for disabled students to apply to.

This will help disabled students looking for scholarships for college in their searching process. If you want to find particular disability scholarships search for organizations which provide support for that particular disability because many times they will have a educational award you can apply to on their website.

Some awards are small, while others larger then others.

Using the search term “disability foundations” or “disability memorials” will uncover many.

The Disability Government Website covers everything students need to know when looking for student aid; but stops short of listing all the disability scholarships out there today simply because its hard to cover all of them. There are too many of them and new ones come out every year. They list the larger high profile ones that have been around for awhile, but the under the radar awards don’t get mentioned. This is where the student themselves has to do the digging using the internet to uncover them.

Their is also another place disabled students should automatically look FIRST and that is the college/colleges which they are interested in attending. Most universities and colleges have scholarships for disabled students already in place and you just have to ask about them. This sounds simple enough too; but you must ask, or inquire about them through the financial aids office.

The very best thing to do is to MEET IN PERSON with a financial aids manager who has been there awhile and knows all about these awards. They can be very helpful in their suggestions on applying to everything you can to get your maximum financial aid package. Certain programs may not seem like they are disability programs by name, but they will do they same thing and this is what an experienced Fin Aids manager will know about and can tell you.

Usually, colleges and Universities award disability scholarships to any type of disability too. Proof of disability must be shown that’s all. The Gavalas Kolanko Foundation Disability Scholarships

The Gavalas Kolanko Foundation awards scholarships for students with physical disabilities. They are public charity established to help disabled students reach their secondary educational objectives. They do this by their disability financial aid.

They direct their awards to South Carolina undergraduates who want to attend the College of Charleston, Charleston Southern University, The Citadel, Trident Technical College, the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), and the Art Institute of Charleston who have some type of physical disability, such as sight, movement, or hearing.

They have five applications based on student academic direction & college desired with various deadline & submission dates.
Disability financial aid is given out based on academic achievements, financial need and community involvement.

Michigan Cerebral Palsy Achievements and Abilities Scholarship for Students with/or Affected by Cerebral Palsy

This disability scholarship was established to create awareness about cerebral palsy (CP) and to honor the achievements of those directly effected by CP. One disability financial aid award of $1,500 is given out yearly to an undergraduate, or graduate student afflected with CP; or a family member who has CP. Deadline is end of July.

Applicants must be US citizens, undergraduate, or graduate at a US university and enrolled as full time with a GPA of 3.00 or higher.
Michigan Cerebral Palsy Attorneys are Michigan based attorneys who specialize almost exclusively on cerebral palsy and birth injury cases.

Craig H Neilsen Scholarship Fund for Students with Disabilities

Offered by the University of Utah, these scholarships for students with physical disabilities are for those students who suffer with a spinal cord injury and whose educational direction is business related, or law. Entering freshmen through continuing undergraduates can apply, and there are no state residency requirements. The award is for $7,000.

The DREAM Institute HEAP Scholar Award Scholarship for Students with Physical Disabilities

These awards are for those who will be attending a college in Oaklahoma full time with a physical, or learning disability.

Scholarships are based on financial need and based on two and four year educational programs.

The DREAM Institute is a tax exempt organization whose mission is to help those with disabilities fulfill their life purpose via the educational experience for students with a disability. They do this by academic & professional mentor-ship, academic assistance and through scholastic awards.

Marianjoy Scholarship Program

Since 1994 $750,000 in scholarships for students with a physical disability have been awarded from the Marianjoy Foundation.

Students who apply can attend any college in any field of study too.

Students are selected based on financial need, past leadership & community participation, goals they have towards education & career, and their physical disability they presently have.

Applicants must be from the Illinois counties of: Cook, DeKalb, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, McHenry, or Will to apply.

The Marianjoy Foundation sole purpose is to provide support & awareness in supporting Marianjoy Rehabilitation Hospital’s mission in serving people with disabilities through patient treatment, education, research, and community programs.

The National Amputation Foundation Scholarships

The NAF sponsors the “The Claude S. Weiler Scholarship for Amputee College Students”.

To apply, applicants must be planning on full time college study.

September 1st – August 31st you may submit your applications.

Microsoft Disability Scholarships

High school students looking to study technology in a college or vocational school with any disability having financial need, with a 3.00 GPA may apply.

Demonstrating a passion for technology is key to this award.

American Association on Health and Disability Scholarships

Called the The Frederick J Krause Scholarship on Health & Disability; applicants must be full time in a health related field. An award up to $1,000 is given away to many who apply.
