The Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults Breast Cancer Scholarships

The Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults is committed to helping young adults (ages 15-39) continue their education after being affected by cancer through their own diagnosis or the diagnosis of a loved one. Many scholarships offered by UCF share similar applicant criteria. Applicants need only submit one application, which will be considered for any and all scholarships for which the student is eligible for. The PinkRose Foundation Inc. strives to make education more affordable for students who have suffered the loss of a parent or legal guardian due to breast cancer. $1,000 scholarships are available to US or permanent residents who have graduated from high school. The Pink Ribbon Breast Cancer Scholarship Program is available to students in El Dorado County, California whose lives have been impacted by breast cancer in their immediate family. Another cancer survivor scholarship comes from the Ryan Mullaly Second Chance Fund. This program provides $1,000 to a varying number of winners every year. In order to be eligible for this program students will need to be residents of the United States, be diagnosed with lymphoma during high school, have been involved in cancer therapy programs, currently be graduating from high school and be preparing to head off to an accredited two or four year college program. All application materials are due no later than May 31.

The American Cancer Society’s R.O.C.K. (Reaching Out to Cancer Kids) Cancer College Survivor Scholarship Program offers resident students of Florida scholarship money to pursue their education at a Florida higher education facility. Since 1997 the Ulman Cancer Fund has been working diligently towards assisting young adults, their families and friends, with education and financial support that offers them hope and integrity as they struggle with cancer in their lives. Since the programs creation, the UCF has become a major spokesman for the fight against cancer.

The 2009-2010 cancer scholarships will mostly be directed to the geographical area of Washington D.C., Maryland and Virginia. However, the applicant can live in another state if they are attending or planning to attend an accredited educational facility in this area. Two of the disabled scholarships for cancer survivors, the Barbara Palo Foster Memorial, which is for nursing students only and the Sean Silver Memorial for young adult cancer survivors only, are still available to nationwide applicants as long as they meet the existing additional criteria.
