Cystic Fibrosis scholarships have become more important as of late and are an obscure disability scholarship for people with cystic fibrosis. As technology advances, we are seeing more and more people with cystic fibrosis living long and productive lives. While there is no cure for this disease, medical technology is allowing sufferers to live longer, meaning that there is now the chance to pursue a higher education and lead a halfway normal life.

Cystic fibrosis affects the lungs and digestive system of nearly thirty thousand people in the United States, so Cystic Fibrosis scholarships and college money is vital.

The Solvay Cares Scholarship is one of the many different unsungĀ cystic fibrosis scholarships available to students with the disease. This cystic fibrosis disability scholarship is awarded to forty individual students that are currently living with cystic fibrosis. The total amount awarded through this program is one hundred thousand dollars. The program has been going strong for over sixteen years and is given to students as a one year award.

Another program that gifts a cystic fibrosis college scholarship to students, is given through the little known Elizabeth Nash Foundation. This organization offers disability scholarships in varying amounts to students that demonstrate a financial need along with accomplishment both in and out of the classroom. Students who apply for this award need to have specific and set academic goals. Awards are paid directly to the institution and can only be used to tuition and fees.
Another unexplored scholarship with students with this disability is the Sacks for CF scholarship program offers individuals who suffer from cystic fibrosis with funds to pay for both graduate and undergraduate degrees. This program is unique in the fact that the number of one thousand dollar scholarships that are awarded depends on the number of quarterbacks sacked between the beginning of December and the Pro Bowl. Applicants are judged based on academics, leadership, service, and character.

Still; another anonymous disability scholarship is the Bonnie Strangio Education scholarship program offers an award to a student with cystic fibrosis that exhibits a good attitude and a passion for achieving their short and long term goals even though they are fighting cystic fibrosis. This program was created in memory of Bonnie Strangio, who died of the disease. Even so, Bonnie showed the world that a great life can be lived and many goals can be attained even with the debilitating condition.

Nurses who are looking into working with, or who currently work around people with cystic fibrosis can also qualify for cystic fibrosis scholarships and grants to further their education. The International Nurse Specialist Group offers money for education to nurses who wish to better their skills in dealing with this specialty. This unrecognized scholarship gives select nurses the chance to learn within a research environment.

As you can see, there are many different untold scholarship opportunities out there for people who are living with cystic fibrosis. Because the life expectancy for people with this disease is growing longer, so to must the quality of life. Offering a cystic fibrosis scholarship or grant, along with other scholarships and grants for disabled people with this disease, can truly have a positive impact on the way of life and the future of many others that will follow after.

My husband was recently diagnosed with CF and he is 31. He is hoping to pursue an executive mba while working. He currently works for a smaller company without good health benefits/retirement etc. The cost is about 75k total for an 18month program. Does anyone know of any specific scholarships he might qualify for? Most of the ones I have seen are for undergrad degrees.

    hanna,

MBA scholarships are tough to find and get. Speak to the FinAids manager at a college your husband is interested in attending to see what type of disability MBA student aid programs he may qualify for. Also look for support CF organizations which may be offering some type of student aid he may apply for too. Their are a few of them that may but most are targeting college undergraduates.
